County Council Future Lives Consultation Events

The County Council have developed proposals to rise to the challenge of saving £30 million in 2014/15 and then about £25 million per year until at least 2016/17, including £32 million from Adult Services and Health. As part of this they are having to prioritise their investment across Adult Services and Health on those services where they have a statutory duty, or where they can be confident that they will avoid or reduce the need for social care.

Future Lives is the Council's main change programme in Adult Services and Health. It aims to achieve a number of outcomes:
¦Keep people healthy and independent for as long as possible and reduce the need for adult social care
¦Give service users greater choice over the services they use and greater control over their lives
¦Make sure that services are safe and effective

Proposals for prioritisation and re-commissioning of services were discussed at 7th November Cabinet and they are now subject to a full consultation before a final decision is made. Partners and the public are encouraged to respond to the consultation so that the County Council has the opportunity to consider as many views as possible.

The consultation seeks views on proposed changes to prevention, early help and other support services for vulnerable adults and housing support for some young people that are currently funded by the council. These services are in addition to the council’s legal duty for social care.

Have your say by completing the questionnaire or come along to a consultation event. The consultation finishes on 21st January 2014.

Dates for the consultation events can be found here.
