Final call for applications: deadline 10 April 2014 - Recruiting Voluntary Sector Members to Partnership Boards and Groups

With the changes to the Health and Well Being Board (and associated sub groups) and to the Safeguarding Adults Board there is an opportunity for the voluntary sector develop its influence. Those strategic groups draw together statutory sector partners and the VCS contribution is recognised. As members of the group the VCS has the opportunity to influence the discussions with the aim of presenting a more complete picture of Worcestershire and so achieving the best outcomes for communities across the County.

The Forum on the website has been developed to help ensure that there is good two way communication with the sector as a whole. One of the key roles of those take up these places is to engage in effective two way communication - both through the web forum but also get around to other sector events and meetings.

Feedback from VCS members has commented that in the past these places were often taken by just a few people. Worcestershire Voices is therefore very keen to bring new faces to the table. Now is your chance - perhaps you have been involved in District networks and would enjoy the challenge of working over the whole county? We are keen to ensure that we hear the voice from all parts of Worcestershire.

The VCS members need to be able to take a wide ranging view and not just represent their own organisation or even a group of organisations. but present a perspective of the the sector as a whole.

The Health and Well Being Board is deals with the full age range from birth through to old age and we would envisage the member and the deputy reflecting different groups. Similarly the New Health Improvement Group will reflect the range of issues which impact of public health.

The VCS Reference Group already has members reflecting Sensory Impairment, Older People and Mental Health and we want to extend the membership to include the perspective of children, young people and young adults too.

The Safeguarding Adults Board is responsible for the safeguarding of all adults from age 18, the age limit for the Safeguarding Children Board.

The terms of reference of these groups are on the website by following this link.

Those interested in finding out more about any of these roles should contact Lorna Pearcey or Michael Hunter. The members of the main groups will have named substitutes and we envisage them working closely together.
