National Review of health and care investment in the Voluntary and SE Sector

A review of health and care investment in the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector began in February 2015. The Department of Health, NHS England and Public Health England recognise the importance of voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in improving the health and wellbeing of the nation’s population and want to find out more about what is happening on the ground.

During the last week of February, three focus groups met in Worcester, Wolverhampton and Leeds. This was the initial stage of the UK review that will report back to Government, a review that intends to influence policy on how health and wellbeing initiatives are supported. Community Catalysts led the first stage of reporting in partnership with local organisations.
Community micro-enterprises and voluntary organisations joined an open focus group to explain:
  • What they do and how they contribute to the wellbeing of the people they support and the local community.
  • What gets in the way of providing services for more people and what could government do to remove those barriers?
  • If they receive grant funding and, if so, how useful it has been in helping them to establish the enterprise and grow
